Do you know... what we do in music class? Some people think singing is all the children do in music class.  We do so much more... look!
	We read rhythms and musical notation.
We move and dance to music.
	We listen to many styles of music. (Classical, jazz, pop, rock) We evaluate the music we listen to.
We play rhythm instruments and in fourth grade we play recorders. In fifth and sixth grade we play tone chimes!
	We sing many different styles of songs.
We learn by using music technology!
We learn a lot of different things in music and we have fun learning!

 

The National Standards for Music Education

1. Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
2. Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
3. Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments.
4. Composing and arranging music within specified guidelines.
5. Reading and notating music.
6. Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.
7. Evaluating music and music performances.
8. Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
9. Understanding music in relation to history and culture.
