All About Mrs. Gordon
Family My name is Tonya Gordon and I teach third grade at Fairview Elementary. I was born in Newcastle, NE. I am the oldest of three children. My sister Carrie graduated from the University of South Dakota and is now working as a dental hygienist. My youngest sister Becky is a hair stylist. My parents still reside in Newcastle. My mom works at a Farm Service Agency in Ponca while my dad recently retired from teaching K-12 physical education at Newcastle Public School. I married my incredible husband, Steve, in August of 2003. Steve has his own graphic design business called RDQLUS Creative and has started his own clothing business, RDQLUS Goods & Cloth. School I attended Newcastle Public School from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The school in Newcastle is a one building school that has all grades K-12 in it. After graduation, I attended the University of South Dakota where I also competed for the University's Track & Field Team. I received my degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Dakota in December of 2001. In August of 2007, I received my Master's Degree in Reading from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I am currently working on an endorsement in Library Media through the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Work In January of 2002, I returned to Newcastle after college to substitute teach, coach basketball, and coach track. During the 2002-2003 school year, I taught Kindergarten through Third Grade Reading and Math in the Vermillion Public Schools District in Vermillion, South Dakota. In August of 2003, I began teaching third grade at Fairview Elementary. Since the spring of 2004, Steve and I have volunteered our time coaching track and field at Westside High School. Interests In my spare time, I enjoy working out. Steve and I run and lift weights every night after school. During the weekends, you can find us out shopping or going out to eat. One of our favorite activities is to visit book stores. I also enjoy traveling back to northeast Nebraska to visit my family and friends.
