Family
My name is Terrie Brown. I teach second grade at Fairview Elementary School. I was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I moved to Longview, Texas the summer before I began second grade. I like to say that I am a Native Texan. I am the middle sister in my family. My older sister, Tammie, lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and works for a large insurance company. My younger sister, Kristain, lives in Ringgold, Georgia, and works for a local building contractor. My dad and mom live in Georgia too. My mom stays home and my dad will retire soon from a vending company. Then he will play golf! I married my husband Brad in March of 1991. He was in the Air Force. We lived in Washington State, Panama and Nebraska in a ten year time period. He now works as a defense contractor for the military. My daughter, Chelsie was born on July 18, 1993 and six years later her brother Conner was born on July 18, 1999. Yes, they have the exact same birthday, but it was not planned that way.
School
I went to Kindergarten and first grade at Lakeview Elementary in Nashville, Tennessee. I attended the Pine Tree Independent School District, in Longview, Texas, from second grade through graduation. Then, my dad's job relocated him to Georgia. I attended Dalton College and obtained by Associates of Science Degree towards Elementary Education. I then took a break from college and got married and a few years later had my daughter Chelsie. While living overseas in Panama, I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from Florida State University. After moving to Nebraska in 1999, I had to obtain my state teaching certificate. I attended Peru State College for a few courses, where I received an endorsement in Elementary Education and my Nebraska teaching certification. In October of 2006, I completed my master's degree from Walden University in Elementary Reading and Literacy.
Work
While living in Panama, I became a local substitute teacher. I had many unique opportunities to complete long-substitute jobs. Then, I was offered my first teaching position in 1998 with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools teaching third grade at Ft. Kobbe Elementary in Panama. The following year the base and the schools closed. I then moved to Nebraska with my family. I then chose to stay home with my son, Conner, for a year. In the fall of 2000, I was offered a job with Bellevue Public Schools. I taught forth grade at Fairview Elementary School. Then for the 2001-2002 school year, I took a second grade position in the same school and I absolutely love teaching the younger students.
Outside Interests
My children keep me hopping from place to place to watch them do sporting activities. In my very little spare time, I enjoy reading books, shopping and taking photographs. I love to watch college football, baseball, and gymnastics! I am a devout Texas Longhorn fan in every sport and support the Nebraska Cornhuskers only in their gymnastics' program. Hook 'em Horns!!!
