World Language Club
| Upcoming Meeting | Fundraising: Recycle your cell phones & printer cartridges -- we get to redeem points & money! In 2006-2007, we raised $282.80! | Past Meetings |
The purpose of the World Language Club is to foster an interest in and an understanding of world languages and their respective cultural traditions, with a focus on German, French, and Spanish. The World Language Club is open to any 7th or 8th grader at Mission Middle School. He/she does not need to be enrolled in a World Language class.
Meetings will be held at least monthly, starting at 4:00 and running until 5:15. Students who ride the bus may catch the late bus home. All other students must arrange for their own transportation.
Tentative projects, events, and goals include: membership recruitment, Oktoberfest, el Día de los Muertos, celebrating National Foreign Language Week, learn about winter holiday customs around the world, Carnivale/Mardi Gras, Poisson d'avril (April Fool's Day), Celebrate Cinco de Mayo, helping sponsor a 7th/8th grade dance, making crafts (piñatas, ojos de díos, cascarones, etc.), community service projects, field trip to El Museo Latino, foreign movie night, dine out at a non-American restaurant, guest speakers, etc. Events will happen as the calendar and fundraising will allow. For more information, please contact Mrs. Miller, WLClub sponsor, at Mission Middle School.
Funding Factory Recycling Program
Have an old cell phone laying around? Getting tired of just throwing your ink cartridges into the landfill? If so, check this out!
The Mission Middle School World Language Club is participating in the FundingFactory® Recycling Program! This fundraiser is FREE and simple because there’s nothing to sell, no paperwork to fill out and no deadline. The program runs year-round, accumulating constant income for our efforts. But we won’t get very far without your support. Please donate your empty printer cartridges and used cell phones to us, and we’ll take it from there! We will recycle the cartridges and cell phones through FundingFactory to earn new cash for World Language Club outings or for recreation/technology products.
Last year alone, more than 300 million cartridges were thrown away, while 30,000,000 cell phones were tossed or replaced. We’re alleviating the volume of waste that goes into landfills, while collecting the resources we need to keep our World Language Club running smoothly. Your help is vital to our fundraising success. Cell phones and cartridges can be dropped off at the following locations: Room 202 or Main Office at Mission Middle School
FundingFactory also sponsors a businesses support program, where your employer can help out our organization without spending a cent. Prepaid shipping boxes can be sent, free of charge, directly to any business, organization or other facility within the continental United States. Business supporters simply need to load the boxes and leave them for the next UPS pickup. If you work for a company that may be interested in supporting us, please call FundingFactory toll-free at 1.888.883.8237. Give the customer service representative our school identification number, 64009, and they’ll set you up to support our account.
If you have any questions about this great opportunity, please feel free to call me at 402-293-4260 or e-mail me. Thank you for your support!
