More About the Ocean

We've been working hard the past couple of weeks learning about the ocean and animals that live there.

Here's some coral that Matthew shared with the class.  They got it in Hawaii.

Here's a sample of a sea sponge.

We explored all sorts of shells and sea animals at our ocean center.

Can you see the difference in the color of the sand from different places?

Here's one of our friends 'reading at the beach'.

We worked with our Sixth Grade Buddies to research and write about ocean animals.

Even the teachers learned some exciting facts about ocean animals that they didn't know before.

We talked about math vocabulary words...big, bigger, biggest, small, smaller, smallest, large, tiny, enormous, etc. while we organized the fish by size.

Mrs. Helmick did a demonstration on water pressure.  Do you know why the bottom stream of water is going the furthest?  There must be a lot of pressure at the bottom of the ocean!
