More Holiday Pictures

We hopped on the Magic Holiday Bus and traveled to Holland.  Here are Mrs. Brockhaus' shoes for the trip.

We learned that children in Holland put their shoes out on their porch on Sinter Klaas Day (December 6th).  If the children have been good, they get candy and treats.  If they have been naughty, they get coal and rocks.  Here's a sample of our art project.  As you can see, this shoe is full of candy and treats!

Here's our note to Sinter Klaas!  Many of us put our shoes out, and he even came to Nebraska!

...And the stockings are hung by the chimney with care...Check out all of that sewing and the beautiful colors.

Here's a sample of the Gingerbread people that we made with our Sixth Grade Buddies.

We read a couple of versions of the Gingerbread Man story and sang a song about him.  We made puppets to retell the story...

...and we baked real gingerbread cookies...ummm, ummm, good!.

For math we graphed how we ate our gingerbread cookies.  Most of us ate the legs first.

We also traveled to Israel and learned about the celebration of Hanukah.  Here's a menorah that we colored while practicing reading our color words.

We made stars to decorate our room for Hanukah.

...and we learned how to play Dreidel while we were in Israel.
