Colors/Light

We put food coloring in water.  We had only the primary colors.

We used the primary colors to mix the secondary colors.  Ask your favorite "K" Kid how we created orange, purple, and green.

Can you guess what we are going to make with these ingredients?

Mrs. Brockhaus calls it Rainbow Stew, but it doesn't look much like a rainbow yet!?

After you add the food coloring, it looked a little more like a rainbow.  Click here for a copy of the recipe to try it at home.

We used a prism to bend light...

to make a rainbow on the ceiling of our classroom.  In nature, the light comes from the sun and the raindrops are the prism.

We mixed paint to see if primary colors of paint work the same as primary colors of food coloring.   They did!

Here's a sample of all the colors that we made.

We even learned how to make pink!

Then the "K" Kids practiced mixing their own colors at center time.  This was exciting...and a little messy!
