We played a memory game to test our sense of
sight.
|
Here is a sample of our sound matching
containers. Mrs. Brockhaus put things in the mystery containers, and we
had to match them to the pictures by listening. |

Here's another sound matching game.
We are also learning the Sign Language Alphabet.
Sign Language is a way that people communicate when they cannot hear. |
.JPG)
We made sound waves and felt the vibration of the
waves on our lips with wax paper. We could tell the difference when we
made low sounds (daddy sounds) and high sounds (baby sounds). |

Another fun thing that we did with sound waves
was create our own "musical" instrument. We filled glasses with
different amounts of water. The deepest water made the lowest pitch,
and the one with the least water made the highest pitch. Mrs. B
promised to teach us more about this in music class.

This is our smell game. Again Mrs.
Brockhaus filled mystery containers with smells. |

We had to match the smells to pictures
without peeking into the containers. |

When we learned about our sense of touch and made
Touch & Feel Books. |
.JPG)
These books helped us learn a lot of
words to describe textures...soft, hard, smooth, rough, sharp, bumpy, and
sticky. |

We put our sense of touch to work by reaching in
the Feely Box
and trying to guess what was in it.
We tried to give our
friends clues to guess what we were holding. |

Thursday, we finally got to test our sense of
taste! We all enjoyed the 'salty' treat.
|
.JPG)
Oooh...'sour'. |
.JPG)
We didn't appreciate the 'bitter' chocolate very
much... |
.JPG)
Bitter' chocolate is icky!! |
.JPG)
Guess who didn't like the 'bitter' treat!?
Mr. Kauk liked 'salty' the best. |
.JPG)
Finally...'sweet'! After we tasted, we
graphed our favorites. Sweet had the most. According to our
graph nobody like the bitter taste. One student concluded that I
wasted my money on that one! |
