We Went On A Bear Hunt!

Our opening theme was bears so we all brought our favorite stuffed bear or animal to school with us.  Throughout the week, we read to them, measured them, and sorted them.  On Thursday, our kindergarten animals led us on an adventure through the school.  We left them in our classroom while we went to music.  Apparently the animals got lonely so they left us a note and took off.  When we returned, we had to go looking for them.  It took awhile, but we found them in the office, having a meeting with Mr. Kauk.  Throughout our search, we found that there are a lot of super people in our building that want to keep us safe and help us learn.

Here's the note that we found on our door when we returned
from music class on Thursday.  It led to an exciting Bear Hunt...

Mrs. Kathy Ryan (custodian) was shocked to hear about the mischief that was happening in our school.

Mrs. Alff, (kindergarten) is asking us to explain what our animals looked like.

Mrs. Pouliot (speech) offered to help us on our bear hunt.

Mrs. Petersen and her first graders had a stuffed animal dog, but it wasn't ours.

Mrs. Hanson (2nd grade) and Mrs. Fripp (reading) hadn't seen our bears.

Mrs. Smith (secretary) took our information in case the animals showed up in the front office.

We found them!  Thanks Mr. Kauk for taking good care of our animal.

Mr. Kauk read us the poem, "If Teddy Bears Ruled the World".

We learned the Gummy Bear Song.  It's a fun
way to learn the names of all of our "K" Kid friends.

We read Goldilocks and the 3 Bears Rap, and made puppets to retell the story.  Then we sampled 3 kinds of porridge and graphed our favorite kind.

Our favorite porridge was chocolate Malt-o-Meal.  Who knew that porridge could taste so good?!

We measured our stuffed animals using Unifix Cubes.  Then we compared the measurements.  We used the math words...more, how many more?, less, how many less?, and equal.  We also talked about tall, taller, and tallest, small, smaller, smallest.
