Groundhog Day
Science & ARt

If Phil the Groundhog can look for his shadow, so can we!  Here we are checking out our shadows in front of the school.  We looked at our shadows at 8:00 am, 12:00 noon, and 3:00 pm.  The shadows moved and changed sizes even though we were in the same spot.  This was puzzling at first, but after some discussion we concluded that the sun was at different places in the sky.

We graphed our predictions for Groundhog Day.  While talking about Groundhog Day, we were going to learn about shadows.  Mrs. Brockkhaus was really hoping for an early spring so we could have recess again.

Mrs. Moneymaker traced our shadows called silhouettes.
