Fall Fun

One of our kindergarten science objectives is to learn the four different seasons that we experience in Nebraska.  This week we spent our time learning about the season of Fall.  The weather cooperated wonderfully...cool nights and warm days...This can last until December!

We made a chart of Fall Words so that we have a little shortcut when we're journaling.  Now we don't have to sound out quite as many words, and we can still write about our great ideas.

Most of our math this week was patterning, but we needed to practice our number recognition so we put these pumpkins in order.  The "K" Kids thought it would be fun to make them into head bands.

Here our our Four Season trees.  Fall leaves, bare trees, trees with blossoms, and trees in summer.

Mrs. Brockhaus and some of the "K" Kids brought in fall leaves from the neighborhood.  We used our 5 senses (okay, only 4 of our senses) to explore the leaves.

We used words like soft, crunchy, pointy, green, ripped, large, small, smooth, and rough to describe our leaves.

After we used magnifying glasses to observe our leaves, we recorded our information with leaf rubbings and words.

We used tissue paper and acrylic gloss to paint some beautiful leaves.

We read lots of informational books about fall this week. Many of them told about what happens to trees in fall.  Here are our fall leaves.

With the start of a new month, we changed our calendar and we got to change our seating chart.  We took our name tags off of the tables and cleaned them.  It was really hard work...we even had to write our Word Wall Words while we cleaned.  After the tables were all clean, the "K" Kids got to choose a new spots to sit.  The "K" Kids will get to choose their own spots each month as long as they promise to work hard!  Below are some pictures of us 'slaving away' cleaning the tables!?
