Learning About our Bodies

Meet Mr. Bones...we learned that we have 206 bones.  We name/labeled some of them.  Do you know where your biggest bone is?  How about your smallest bones?

Here's a sample of the skeletons that we made.

We learned that our bones give us shape, protect our organs, and make red blood cells.

We checked Mr. Body out from the Media Center.  We learned about the squishy organs in our body...How big is your brain?  How big is your heart?  How many chambers are in your heart?

We matched body parts to their names.

We read a book about a visit to the doctor's office.  After reading the story, we talked about visits that we've had to the doctor's office and brainstormed all of the things that we would need to set up our own Doctor Center.

Here's our Doctor's Office Center...

No Doctor's Office is complete without the waiting room.

We kept records of all of the patients seen in our Doctor's Office.  Apparently this is a very good doctor to fix a broken let so quickly!?

The office staff at the Doctor's Office need to answer the phones, schedule appointments, and prepare the bills!

On Friday, we worked with our Sixth Grade Buddies to trace around our bodies and label them.  Here are a few samples of our work.
