Pumpkin Fun

Meet Joe-Bob, The Pumpkin...the focus of our math for the day!

We estimated our pumpkin's weight.

We took it to the health office so we could use the big scale.  The pumpkin actually weighed 13 pounds.  We thought that was too heavy to carry back so they let us give him a ride in the wheelchair.

We estimated the number or seeds in our pumpkin. Then we counted all of the seeds.  Our pumpkin had 410 seeds (give or take a few??)  Mrs. Smith was the closest.

We predicted whether our pumpkin would sink or float.

  It floated!

Then we carved our pumpkin.  Here are some of the words that we used to describe the inside our pumpkin...icky, gooey, slimy, disgusting, bumpy squishy, orangey, smelly webby, smooth, wet, stringy, seedy, sticky, gross!

Aren't 'Pumpkin Joe-Bob' and his friend 'Pumpkin Jill' wonderful?!  He'll be lighting up Mrs. Brockhaus' front porch for Halloween when all of the "K" Kids come trick-or-treating.

We did a buddy class activity with Mrs. Weber's class.

Pumpkin math sure is fun!  We estimated our pumpkin's weight and then compared it to the actual weight.

We estimated and measured the height of our pumpkin.

We measured the pumpkin's circumference.
