Fire Safety

We spent the week learning how to be safe in case we are ever involved in a fire.  Some things we practiced at school, but some things really need to be discussed and practiced at home.  For homework this weekend...practice your family's fire drill plan, set up a place to meet when everyone gets out of the house,  find the 2 ways out of every room, practice "stop, drop, and roll", ask your favorite "K" Kid how to move in a smoke-filled room and how to test if a door has fire on the other side, test the smoke detectors, and enjoy the pictures of our fire safety activities...

Oh, no!! A house is on fire call 911!

First, we read books about fire safety.

Next, we brainstormed the things that we would need for our fire safety center.

Jeremiah and Alex made tools and the flag.

Brady made the fire badges.

Madison made the flashlights.  Do you see the on/off switches?

Christina and Evan made the firefighter uniforms.

Martin made the hose that squirts water on the fire.

Lucy, Hayden, and Sky made a house.  We're going to add smoke and fire.  This will be the house that we must save!

Natasha and Jenna made the wheels for the fire truck.

Our fire truck's finally finished!

Here we are heading to the fire!

Jacob & Jeremiah's neighbor was a real fire fighter, and he let us borrow his fire fighter helmets.  They were really heavy!

Zero the Hero brought us squares of paper to make Dalmatian fire dogs.  We were very excited to learn how to make animal faces.

Finger painting has nothing to do with fire safety, but it was Custodian's Day on Thursday so we cleaned our tables for Ms. Kathy.

We wrote some words while we cleaned.

It was messy and fun!!
