We
learned the word "estimation" this week as we estimated how many apples
would fit around our large apple picture. Way to go Alex and Martin! They had the closest estimations! |
| We
sequenced apples and discussed math words like big, large, gigantic,
enormous, small, tiny, teeny, bigger, smaller, biggest, and smallest. |
 |
 |
We got
to measure our friends at center time. The "K" Kids are about 15
apples tall. |
|
We also practiced
using a balance scale. We found that some apples are "heavier" and
some are "lighter". We had to work hard to find apples that were of
equal weight. |
 |
|
 |
We put lemon juice
on an apple to prevent it from turning brown. We talked about how
the air (oxygen) mixes with the sugar in the apple to turn it brown.
The lemon juice didn't let this happen. |
|
This is the poem
that we learned this week. We practiced it on our big chart.
On Friday, we illustrated our own poem to put in our Poetry Folders.
We also highlighted the "." at the end of the sentences and found the
famous word "the". |

We made pattern
headbands with little apples and pretended that we were "Apple Jack Kids". |
|
We painted apple
prints. |
 |
|
 |
We read Ten
Apples Up on Top. Then we got in 3 groups traced a friend and
colored the person. |
|
Finally, we used the
people that we created to display our class apple graph "Up On Top".
Can you tell which color of apples most of us like? We were thrilled
that they even had to go on the ceiling! |
 |
|
 |
We created apple
trees and painted the apples with our fingerprints. |
|
Our culminating
activity of the week was making applesauce! Ms. Mary helped us use
the peeler, corer, slicer. |
 |
|

We put in 6 apples
to 1 cup of water and cooked them until they were soft. Then we
mashed the apples and added cinnamon and sugar. |
Yum! This is
delicious! We shared some with Mrs. Roberts, too. She liked it
so much that she did the 'principal's happy dance'. Ask your
favorite "K" Kid about it. |
