All About The Ocean

A few facts about whales...

We measure whales out on the playground.  The boys on the left are the tail of a blue whale and the rest of the class is making a line all the way to the whale's mouth.  Blue whales can be 100 feet long!

We made Whale Watching books.

We each wrote facts about ocean animals using the 4-square writing method.  We have 3 facts about our animal and one 'feeling' sentence.  Shane wrote:  Sharks have fins.  Sharks have no bones.  A shark has cartilage.  A shark is awesome.

To summarize what we know about the ocean, we each chose a fish to illustrate and write about.

Here's one of the pages from our ocean pop-up book.  It will be coming home with each of the "K" Kids soon.  Mrs. Brockhaus just has to add the glossary to the back of the book.
