We read several
versions of the Gingerbread Man and compared them. Then we baked
Gingerbread bears... |

and decorated them. |

Then we took one bite and graphed how we
ate our gingerbread bears. Most of us ate the feet first...math sure
is tasty! |

Finally, we filled out a Gingerbread Man
Mystery book and colored it.!

On our trip to Sweden where we
learned about Santa Lucia. Don't we look great in our Star Boy hats
and Lucia wreaths?
|
Next we 'traveled' to Africa to celebrate
Kwanzaa. We weaved mats and made kinaras. |

After reading and acting out Jan Brett's The
Mitten (a Ukrainian folktale), we painted mittens. Do you see the
symmetry? |

To wrap up our study of Holidays Around the
World, we graphed our favorite celebration. Most of us liked the
tradition of hanging our stockings the best. |

To get our class ready for January, we
read about and painted snowmen. There are numbered dots surrounding
the snowmen. Each day of January, we will be gluing cotton 'snowballs'
on the numbers for a January Countdown. |

We also learned how to make snowflakes. No
two were the same! |
