Literacy Stations

We started our Literacy Stations this week.  Each day when we come in, we check our chart (above) to see what station we are assigned to for the day.  At each station, we have 3 or more choices of activities to do.  They all help us improve our reading, writing, and math.

At the ABC Station, we are choosing letters from the bag and recording them on a chart of whether the letters are in our name or not.  We could also put all of the letters in alphabetical order.

At the Writing Station, we write words that we can find around the room.  We sorted the words by how many letters they have.  We can also make cards or write in a friend's compliment book.

At the Listening Center, we listen to stories.  We then fill out reading response sheets about the story, characters, or the sequence of events in the story.

At the Computer Station, we work on reading, letter, and number programs that we've been introduced to in the computer lab.

At the Number Station this week, we created and named patterns with cubes, dot stamps, and dot charts.

At the Observation Station, we are putting our observation skills to the test.  We check out what's in the bottles and record it in a sentence format.  We use words from the Properties Chart that we created during Science.

At our Word Station, we record words on a chart and find out how many syllables they have.  We also make word family books and sight word booklets.

This is our Puzzle & Games Station.  We match letters, numbers, build words, and complete puzzles.

At our Overhead Station, we build sight words and record them.
