Leprechaun Mischief

During the month of March, we had a little trouble with leprechauns in our classroom.  They did all sorts of mischief, but they never hurt anyone or anything.  Mrs. Roberts wouldn't allow that in our school!  Here are some pictures of the mischief...

They loved messing with our calendar.

We couldn't believe that they would tip over Mrs. Brockhaus' chair!

When we came in, we found that they had green streamers and green coins all over our classroom.

We thought maybe some of the office staff would have some advice about catching the little guys.  If we could, they would have to share their gold with us!

We made leprechaun finders in hopes that we would catch a leprechaun and get his gold.  We made a pact as a "K" Kid team that if we caught a leprechaun, we'd all share the gold.

We found some green on one of our shells at the Ocean Center.  Could it be from a leprechaun??

Mrs. Roberts suggested that we "Launch and Investigation".  Everyone used their Leprechaun Finders and recorded their information.  Here are some of the things that we found...(sparkles, green Polly Pockets, leprechaun tracks, green sparkles at the calendar).

Another discovery!  Green coins, white powder, and a note...

They left us a note with some white powder.  We thought it was safe to try because they wouldn't hurt us.  (We did talk about not eating 'mystery things' that strangers give us.)

We bought some milk from the lunchroom.  The lunchroom staff helped us mix up this green snack...does it look a little like pistachio pudding?

Here are the bottles of leprechaun treasures that they brought us for one of our literacy stations.  They had some very interesting treasures!?

This was our recording sheet for the leprechaun treasures.

Here we are with Mrs. Fran, the lunchtime leprechaun.

We found leprechaun tracks on the playground and by the drain pipes outside.

 Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
