Dr. Seuss & Dental Health!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

We read Yertle the Turtle and made our own turtles.

Then we made an 18-Turtle stack of turtles with Yertle on top.

We drew, colored, and painted turtles.

We learned about Dental Health this month.  Since egg shells are white and made of calcium
much like our teeth we did some experiments with eggs and tooth paste.

We soaked eggs in water and dark soda for a couple of days.  This is how they looked when we took them out.

When we started soaking them, we made hypotheses about what would happen to the eggs.  Here are some of our predictions...

Then we tried to get the eggs clean by brushing them with tooth paste.  We saw that toothpaste did get the them pretty clean.  We used different kinds of tooth paste on each egg.  Ask your favorite "K" Kid which toothpaste worked the best!

We learned that we need to brush, floss, and rinse to keep our teeth healthy.  Here we are practicing our flossing.  We are using yarn and flossing between each other's fingers.

Flossing is fun!
