The Very Hungry Caterpillar

We spent a fun week learning about bugs and their life cycle... Click on the caterpillar below to check out Eric Carle's website.

Butterfly in the Wind

 A child is a butterfly in the wind:

Some can fly higher than others;

But each on flies the best that it can.

Why compare one against the other?

Each on is different.

Each on is special.

Each one is beautiful.

After reading Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we mad our own book of The Very Hungry Kindergartner.  Each month, the kindergartner at a different food....

...and then turned into a first grader!

We read informational books about butterflies.  Then we created a Butterfly Life Cycle with different kinds of pasta.

After reading Over In The Meadow, a counting book about bugs, we created our own bugs.  They were all different sizes, shapes, and colors.

We changed our playhouse center into a restaurant.  It's not fast food.  We have flowers on the tables and cloth napkins!

We have picture menus, and have to write down everyone's orders.  Then the chef has to read the orders and prepare the food.

Mrs. Brockhaus found a new center.  We love Marble Works!

Here's our growth chart for the year.  Just like we predicted, we grew...taller AND smarter.
