Pumpkin Fun

Meet Mr. Pumpkin...the focus of our math for the day!

We estimated our pumpkin's weight.

It actually weighed 14.5  pounds.

We estimated the number or seeds in our pumpkin. Then we counted all of the seeds.  Our pumpkin had 427 seeds (give or take a few??)

We predicted whether our pumpkin would sink or float.  Our sixth grade buddies predicted, too.

  It floated!

Then we carved our pumpkin.  Here are some of the words that we used to describe the inside our pumpkin...icky, gooey, slimy, disgusting, bumpy squishy, orangey, smelly webby, smooth, wet, stringy, seedy, sticky, gross!

Isn't 'Pumpkin Joe' wonderful?!  He'll be lighting up Mrs. Brockhaus' front porch for Halloween when all of the "K" Kids come trick-or-treating.

We did a buddy class activity with Mrs. Vargas' class.  Pumpkin math sure is fun!
