Map Skills

Exploring and Studying Maps

Our house has its very own address.  We made houses and practiced our addresses this week.

We painted maps of our state.

We learned that maps give us a code or "Key" to know what direction we are going.

We are learning a song about the 50 states.  Here's a sample of the map that we colored.  As we were working, we talked about different states where our grandparents, cousins, or friends live and located these places on the map.

Throughout the week, we read Flat Stanley.  He is flat so his family mails him to a friend in a big envelope.  We made our own Stanleys and are going to mail them to family and friends around the world.  We hope our Stanleys return by May with information from lots of different places.

We also learned a song about the 7 continents and located land and water on the globe.
Ask your favorite "K" Kid to sing it for you!
