Winter Activities

We read Jan Brett's The Mitten.  Here we are acting out the story.

Click on the book to visit Jan Brett's website and print your own masks to retell the story.

Here's our mitten.

The "animals" are getting all snug and cozy in the mitten.  The great bear sneezed and scattered the animals everywhere!

We sewed our own mittens and made all of the animals to go into the mitten so that we could retell the story at home.

On Tuesday, we played the game "Melt An Ice Cube".  Did any of you try it at home?

This game is fun!

Oh, no!  I rolled a 2 and have to drop it down on my shirt.

Don't you love our igloo?  Thanks parents for donating all of the milk jugs.  We used over 200!

Reading and hanging out in our igloo.

We read the book Tacky by Helen Lester and created our own "Tackys".  He was an odd little penguin in the book, but his friends found that he was a good bird to have around.

Click on the book for to check out Helen Lester's website.

Here are some of our cute little "Tacky"s.

(Thanks to Mrs. Burlingame for sharing the pattern for Tacky.)

We also played "Roll A Snowman".

Aren't we creative?
