Ocean Pictures

Our ocean theme started off with a look at the globe to find the different oceans of the world.  We found that their are four oceans, but they are all connected.  We learned a song about the oceans and read several books about oceans.  We are in the process of making our classroom an "Under the Sea" experience.

Mrs. Brockhaus mixed up some ocean water (water and salt).  Here we are all excited to taste it...

Oooh!  It's not good!

Lucky for us, Nicholas' dad came to help us learn about the ocean.  He's lived in Hawaii and talked to us about scuba diving and snorkeling.  Walking in flippers looked challenging!

He also read a us a story about the ocean.

Aden's pet, Hermie came to school on Thursday.  We read Eric Carle's A House for Hermit Crab.  Aden's mom helped us learn some fun things about hermit crabs.  Some hermit crabs live on the shore, and some kinds live in the jungle.

On Friday, we read Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfiester and made our own rainbow fish.  Do you notice the beautiful, shimmering scale?
