We leaned about money!  $$

While learning about Presidents, we took some time to learn about money.  We started off with a couple of songs about money.  We explored each of the coins (penny, nickel, dime, and quarter) with magnifying glasses.  We found that all coins say "In God We Trust" and "LIBERTY".  They have the year that they were made and a D or a P to tell where they were minted.  We also found that they were extremely dirty so we decided to clean the coins.  Mrs. Brockhaus had a few cleaning 'recipes' so we tested them out.

We put our coins in ketchup, barbeque sauce, vinegar, and water.  We predicted which would get our coins the cleanest.  Most of us thought vinegar would do best.

Here are the coins after 3 days.  You cannot see it from the picture, but the Ketchup was the best cleaner!!

Here's a sample of our observations from the "Observation Station".

We did a coin toss game and tallied our results.  Did Emma have more heads or tails?  What were your favorite "K" Kid's results?  Which had more?  How many more?

Is money magnetic?  You might be surprised!

Here we are examining coins and recording our findings.

Here's a sample of our General Washington hats.
