Nocturnal Fun

Since "K" Kids wear the pajamas at night, we all wore our pj's to school and had Pajama Day.  Every good pajama party needs popcorn so we decided to make some.

We thought we would start with 100 kernels!  Some "K" Kids thought that we might get tummy aches from that much popcorn...until we counted out 100 kernels.  Then it didn't seem like quite enough!

Then Mrs. Brockhaus gave us the exciting news...We were going to leave the lid off!!? Before we popped the popcorn, we predicted where it would hit on our mat.
Here are our results.  (Don't worry, Mom...we didn't eat the popcorn off of the mat.)

Then we popped some popcorn to eat.  This time, we used 1 cup of popcorn.  While that popcorn was popping, we sang "The Popcorn Song" and read The Popcorn Shop by Alice Low.

We read the story "Roll Over".  Here's a picture of us acting out the story.  Don't worry, we aren't really sleeping.  It was too crowded and giggly to get any rest!

Here's  the cover of the class book that we made.  We had to do a lot of problem solving to figure out how many people our book needed.  And do you notice the pattern on the quilt?  Your favorite "K" Kid will be bringing the book home to share soon.

We read Stellaluna by Janell Cannon and watched "The Magic School Bus, Going Batty" to learn all about bats.  Here is a sample of the bats that we made.

We have special 'beginning sound' Batman Powers with our bat bracelets.  "B-B-B-B-B-B Batman"!!

We read A Pocketful of Kisses by Audrey Penn and created little raccoons.

We read the story Owl Babies by Martin Waddell and drew our own wonderful owls.
