Volcanoes

A volcano is an opening in Earth's surface from which lava flows.  Lava and ash build up around the opening to form a mountain.  Our class discovered from our investigation that an erupting volcano can quickly change the land around it.

 

The pictures below show our classroom scientists at work.  The students made models of volcanoes to understand how things happen in nature that are difficult to observe in person.
