BALLOON FIESTA - ALBUQUERQUE

Hello from Rio Rancho, New Mexico!
R.R. is the third largest city in New Mexico. It is door to Albuquerque, NM and 50 miles from Santa Fe the state capital. We attend Colinas del Norte.  It means Hills of the North. Our school has 1,260 students in grades K - 5. This is a desert region. region.  We have mountains, mesas (plateaus), and the Rio Grande River nearby. You can ride to the top of the mountain on the longest tram in the U.S. Our state animal is a black bear. A bear cub found in NM was the model for Smokey Bear. The state bird is a roadrunner. No, it
does not look like the cartoon character! A yucca plant is our state flower and the pinon pine is our state tree. There are many Native American Reservations called pueblos. Many people in NM are Hispanic. Buenos
dias amigos!
