Dear Students,

We are a third grade class from SW Elementary School in Howell, Michigan.  We have 22 students in our class.  We live in the suburb of Detroit, "Home of the Motor City".  This is where Henry Ford started making cars by using the assembly line.

Michigan has a lot of light houses for the five Great Lakes.  The Soo Locks are found in Michigan as well.  They lift and lower ships up to 1,000 feet long.  They link the Great Lakes together and are the second largest lock in the world.  We can't wait to hear from you to learn about your state.  We are 1/2 way between the North Pole and the Equator.  Our state bird is the robin.  Our natural resource is limestone.  Enjoy the rest of your school year.
