1 apple per student

Paper Plates

Sharp Knife (teacher use only)

Post It Notes or Scrap Paper for guesses

Students  placed ALL the apples in designated area.

Apples were  divided  into 4 groups.  (Red, Green, Yellow, Mixed)

Students  guessed how many seeds were in each group of apples.

Students  guessed how many seeds were in all groups combined.

Students  recorded their guesses on a data sheet.

I grouped  students into 4 groups.  (one per apple color)
I cut the apples in 1/2 and have students count the seeds for their group's color.
Students recorded the complete seed count for their apple group.

When all seeds had been counted students  compared their estimates with the
actual counts (in both color and combined groups).

I recorded each Apple Color Group Count and also Completed Count and
submit results on the result page.
