Your student will have the opportunity to explore words in many ways this year!
*We will review letters and sounds as described below.
*We will learn new words using the Word Wall. These are high-frequency words that your child will be responsible for being able to spell. More information is below.
*We will work with words: word families, using context cues, word endings, and rhymes.

Word Wall
The boys and girls will learn high-frequency words during the Word Wall activity.  Each week, we will add 5 words to the wall.  These will be words that are from the spelling curriculum or reading series.  Your child will bring home a new word wall page each week.
We will practice spelling and writing these words in a lot of fun ways.  During this activity, we will also learn about adding word endings such as -ed, -s, -ing.  We will also learn how to spell other words that are the similar.  For example, if you can spell "hat", then you can spell other words with the 'at' sound.
