Clouds

Clouds are formed when the wind blows across a body of water.  This water filled air is pushed up and forms clouds.  There are many kinds of clouds.  Below are just a few.  The wind and the water moisture in the clouds cause them to change shapes.

High
Cirrus Clouds
Cirrus clouds are high thin clouds often found on a nice day.

Mid-level
Altocumulus Clouds
Altocumulus cloud often come before a thunderstorm in the summer.  They look a bit like cotton balls.

Low

Nimbostratus Clouds

Nimbostratus clouds are clouds that contain large amounts of rain.  These are dark, low-level clouds from which come thunderstorms, hail, and lightning.
