What do alligators look like?

Alligators are large, lizard-shaped reptiles that have a scaly, dark-colored skin and a broad snout and long muscular tail.  Young alligators have bright stripes and yellow blotches.  As they grow older their skin becomes dark.

Alligators will eat almost anything.  They can lay very still in the water while they wait for something to come along that they can eat.  Alligators will sometimes hurt people.
