Materials:

Two Datasheets:

     Animal characteristics sheet
     Animal datasheet

Objectives:

Students will:
Fill out a datasheet about animal charactistics found on the Internet sites visited.

Collect data about their chosen animal and use it to write a short report, create a poster, or give an oral report.

Each students will find a way to give their report to the class using one of the above suggestions.

Create a pet shop with a group.

Time:
    
Allow two to three 30 minute periods for collecting information.
      One 45 minute period for oral reports.
      One-two 45 minute period(s) for creating pet shops.

Process:

  1. Print out the datasheets ahead of time.
  2. Read the all the web pages with the students to set the stage. 
  3. Handout the Characteristics data sheet first and help students navigate to the Resource web page. Do the first one with the students and demonstrate where to write their information.
  4. Next, allow students to decide on which animal they want to report.
  5. Pass out the datasheet for collecting animal data.
  6. Allow class time for writing their reports, posters, and oral reports.
  7. Divide students into groups for creating their pet shops and have materials available for students to do the project.

Evaluation:

Students are to be evaluated using the rubric on the Evaluation page.  It is important that students understand how they will be evaluated before they begin the WebQuest.
