The New England Colonies

In the Beginning:

In the early 1600's many people from England began to move to the New World (America) because they were not able to practice their religion in England.  The English government wanted everyone to belong to the Church of England and tried to force people to belong.

The colonies grew because so many people came to New England so they could practice their religion and they worked very hard to build their communities.

People came to the New England Colonies for many other reasons, too.  Some came for religious freedom.  Some came to earn more money and own more land than they could in England.
