Art Objectives

  1. Students will recognize art of the past and present.
  2. Students will explain how artworks can be visual records of actions that have occurred.
  3. Students will view and discuss a variety of art from different cultures.
  4. Students will create art to reflect a style of a group from history (e.g., Native American rugs)
  5. Students will identify and use these elements of art:
    line, shape, texture, color, and form.
  6. Students will identify and use these principles of design:
    pattern and contrast.
  7. Students will be able to artistically create and verbally express their product.
  8. Students will recognize several reasons for creating art (i.e., aesthetic, functional, and commercial).
  9. Students will discuss art that reflects an experience in everyday life.
  10. Students will express themselves through a variety of media, both two- and three-dimensional: painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, textiles.
