Below you will find most of the spelling words we will be working on for the next several weeks. Please use to the list to encourage your child to spell these words correctly. Remember, "repetition means greater retention!" A list of High Frequency words is listed below as well. These words are seen repeatedly in our reading material and are often difficult words to "sound out." They are words that are necessary to know before fluent reading can be achieved. Reminder: A "spelling" list will come home on the 1st day of a new week and the "test" will be on the last day of that week. Some other fun ways to work on the words is to write some of the letters down and have the student fill in the missing letters or scramble the letters and have the student unscramble them. To incorporate good sentence writing have your child create sentences with the spelling and/or high frequency words. Encourage them to create sentences with multiple spelling/high frequency words! ***Remember to always use the word in a sentence and encourage lower case letter use when appropriate! |
