Just like anything else, thinking takes practice, practice, practice . . .

I continually add new courses based on student requests, teacher requests, current events and bright ideas that I find interesting (hopefully others do too). Listed below many of the courses that may be offered. The particular course that is offered at a school depends on the needs of the teachers and the interests of the students in the building. One of the HAL goals is to extend the regular curriculum through our various units of study. Because of that, courses are listed by grade level, but I have been known to modify so that the material is appropriate for another group. Third graders are identified sometime early in the second semester. Toward the end of the spring quarter, I have a regular long rotation with third graders in each building. Since they are new to HAL their course is an overview involving both the affective and cognitive dimensions of being a High Ability Learner. At the conclusion of each of each session you should look for a newsletter and a formal evaluation form noting how your child performed in that particular course. These are mailed home shortly after my last day at your school.
