An Internet Treasure Hunt

Introduction

If I had a dime for every time a student asked, 'Why are we learning this anyway?' or stated, 'I'll never use this again.' I'd be rich! So, to answer this question, let's look at reasons math is useful in real life. Grab your partner, your graphic organizer and a pen and let's surf for the right stuff.....

 


Questions

  1. List one daily activity and the math used.

     
  2. Explore an industry from the web site. Write down how Math is used in the industry.

     
  3. Pick the job that interests you and find out how math is used. Write down your results.

     
  4. Read one of the biographies paying attention to how that person uses math. Don't forget to record your findings.

     
  5. Read pages 6 - 10. In how many jobs is math necessary?

     
  6. Pick one person listed and write down what math is used in their career.

     
  7. Pick one career and read how math is used. Write down the a way that math is used.

     
  8. Pick one area of math and one area of technology. Write down one way math is used.

     
  9. Read one of the examples and write down one way math is used in the workplace.

     
  10. Scroll down, select an industry, and read how math is used in the industry. Don't forget to write down one way math is used.
