FAMILY
SCHOOL
I went to school as a youngster on the side of Bellevue that was in the city limits, but part of the Omaha Public Schools. I graduated from Bryan High School after also attending Central High School. After looking into the opportunity to join the military, I was coaxed by my mother to try one semester of college. It turned out to be one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska for four years, earning a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In college, I was honored to be a part of the Circle K organization, the 1999-2000 homecoming court, and the Wayne State Marching Band. Foremost, I was lucky enough to meet my wife while participating in the marching band. I received my master's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2006.
WORK
I student taught in a third grade class at Fairview Elementary School. I began teaching professionally as a summer school reading teacher at Twin Ridge Elementary School. I was then hired in the Omaha Public Schools as a sixth grade teacher at Washington Elementary School. I then taught fifth grade the following year at Druid Hill Elementary School in Omaha. I taught fifth grade at Betz Elementary School in Bellevue for four years before coming to Leonard Lawrence. In the school environment, I have served not only as a classroom teacher, but also a basketball coach and a building science representative.
INTERESTS
In my spare time, I enjoy coaching baseball and assisting with the Bellevue West girls basketball program. I enjoy playing both electric and acoustic guitars whenever I can. I enjoy all types of music, specifically the work of blues musicians such as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Jeff Beck. I have a lot of pride in my extensive baseball card collection as well. I dabble in writing every now and then, hoping to someday publish a children's book. Recently, I've taken up the frustrating task of building a train set for my son, David.
